WordPress old site changes fixed link experience and considerations

Two days ago, my blog has changed the WordPress fixed link in order to better show it to everyone. If you’re new, don’t care, just change! But if you have been updating for a few years like me, all major search engines have been included, it is necessary to look at this article! I hope my experience can give you some reference.

Precautions

  1. Consider the new fixed link format;
  2. The old address 301 jumps to the new address;
  3. Collection of major search engines (sitemap updates);
  4. The update of the article’s internal link address;
  5. The public number automatically updates the address.
  6. Here we come to a detailed record of sharing brother brother’s blog revision experience.

Permalink format

New and old address 301 jump

I have reviewed numerous tutorials. Since I am so stupid, I used WordPress University to publish the “WordPress Change Permalink Structure Automatically 301 Old Links to New Links” plug-in, WP Permalinks Migration, released in August 2013.

In order to prevent the download address of the wp-permalinks-migration plugin from being invalid, I will make a backup here and it will be convenient for everyone to use. After filling out the old fixed link structure, you can set up a new fixed connection.

Major search engines submit updates

In the major search engine webmaster platform submitted to the site revision, my brother is stupid, only the url on the revision of the submission, so we refer to the moon on the stairs blog and Zhang Ge blog tutorial, recorded how to get all WordPress static link method.

It is worth mentioning here is that soon after the brother submitted the url to the revision, Baidu told me that there is no need to change the version, as shown below. Of course, my brother thinks 301 jump is very important here.

Article link address update

There are few articles, or these brothers don’t say that they use the code to automatically link. Today, there are many articles and there are hundreds or even more manual links.

First of all, find out your own address rules, such as the oldest brother in the original “best all-time best posture, real people really show! You are worth learning and possessing! ”

You can use the following code to execute sql in the database.

UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = REPLACE( post_content,'https://www.dujin.org/fenxiang/tupian/','https://www.dujin.org/');

online preview

Demo: http://webjyh.com/wp-player/

WP-Player introduction

The upgrade has undergone an overall major restructuring of the page music player js, background MetaBox input method, plug-in structure and so on.

  • Rewritten the method to obtain shrimp ID; directly enter the URL to obtain shrimp ID and the corresponding music type;
  • Support single music page, album page, artist page, featured page (you can also create your own collection);
  • Supports multi-song playback; fully compatible with previous old versions of short codes;
  • Perfect support IE6+, FireFox, Chrome browser;
  • Discard the loop parameter in the short code;
  • Handle the address of the shrimp shrimp to the plug-in itself.
  • Turn off background useless option settings;
  • Support background custom upload music files or music links;

Use method area

  1. Open the favorite song page in the shrimp net, copy the song page URL: http://www.xiami.com/song/2078022……
  2. And copy the URL into the WP-Player form. The music type will automatically choose based on the URL.
  3. Click the Get Music ID button, and the music ID appears in the form.
  4. Fill in the content of your article with the short code [player autoplay=”1′′].
  5. In the short code, autoplay indicates whether to play automatically; parameter “0” indicates no; “1” indicates yes;
  6. PS: It is recommended to use the URL to get the music ID.

Plug-in dependency area

  1. Require jQuery 1.7+ repository, if the version of jQuery used by the theme is too low, please upgrade to 1.7+ version.
  2. The current host is required to support the PHP simplexml_load_file() function, which is used to grab shrimp music data.
  3. If the v2.0.1 version is not supported by the host, Sina Cloud resolution will be used.

Precautions area

  1. Only one player can be set in an article.
  2. For user experience, it will only be enabled if it is automatically played in the article detail page. Home and lister settings will be useless.
  3. Because plug-ins need to rely on jQuery, such as the lack of jQuery topics; need to be selected in the background WP-Player settings;
  4. If both the shrimp ID and the custom upload music are set, the shrimp ID analysis will be preferentially used.

Plug-in download area

  1. Manage via WordPress background plugin => Install plugin => Search plugin => WP-Player => Click to install plugin

  5. With regard to the production of the collection of shrimp and rice, it must be set to be visible to everyone at the time of production so that the song list can be obtained;

Developer Zone

  1. Because of the performance of plugin loading, the code in the plugin is all compressed.
  2. The source code I hosted on GitHub, please refer to https://github.com/webjyh/WP-Player
  3. Audio playback is managed with SoundManager2, and the GitHub project is Star.

WordPress import database error Unknown collation: utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci solution

When importing a database into the local environment today, the prompt #1273 – Unknown collation: ‘utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci’ is incorrect, as shown below:

The reason is that the difference in the database version causes the wordpress database to be coded in different ways. In MySQL 5.6 and above, when WordPress 4.6 and above are installed, the default encoding is utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci, but MySQL 5.5 and below does not support utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci, so it cannot be imported.

The processing method is to use a code editor such as sublime text, open the .sql database, and then batch search and replace all utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci to utf8mb4_unicode_ci, save and upload.

Downgrade WordPress to Old Versions Online with WP Downgrade

We all know that whenever WordPress has new books, we can update them one-click in the background. But sometimes, our theme or plug-in may not be compatible with the new version of WP. At this time, if we want to downgrade to the previous old version, what should we do? Take a look below.

Important note: Regardless of upgrade or downgrade, before operating, please be sure to back up your website data, especially the website database, just in case!

Online downgrade

The so-called online downgrade is the same as updating the new version with a key. However, we need to use the WP Downgrade plug-in to implement it, so we must first install and enable WP Downgrade. Then access the Settings – WP Downgrade menu and set the version we want to downgrade.

For example, if you want to demote from 4.7 down to 4.6.1, you can fill in 4.6.1 according to the figure below, and then click “Save Changes”:

You can visit this page to check the WordPress version information: https://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

Pay attention to the red information at the bottom of the figure: 4.6.1 The download link does not exist for Simplified Chinese. At this time, we can access Settings – General, change the language to English, and save it:

Then visit the Dashboard – Updates interface and click on “RE-install Now” to start the reinstallation of the old version specified:

Don’t worry about language problems. After installing the original English version, our language pack files will not be lost!

After installation, we will visit the Settings – General interface and change the language to Simplified Chinese. After saving, you can see the previous Simplified Chinese interface!

Well, that’s it! If everything is OK, you can uninstall the WP Downgrade plugin.

WordPress Beginner Part10 — Install themes and plugins

The power of WordPress is, to a large extent, due to its good extension and numerous themes and plug-in support. Today, Meng Meng will briefly introduce WordPress installation theme and plug-in methods.

WordPress installation theme

WordPress can be installed via 3 common installation methods

Method One: Online Search Installation

Access Background – Appearance – Themes – Install Themes, Enter Subject Keywords, Search

Browse search results for installation

Note: The topics that are searched here are the themes that the theme author submitted to the WordPress theme library. Experience tells us that for domestic users, it is difficult to quickly find the theme we want here, so it is generally not recommended unless you want to The theme has already been submitted to the theme library.

Method two: upload the theme file to install online

This is a more versatile method, provided that the theme package must be packaged in .zip format. In the background – Appearance – Themes – Install Topics – Upload, select the theme package, then install

Successful installation is as follows

Method 3: Upload Topics via FTP

If you can’t install the theme by the above method, you can connect to the host space via FTP, then go to the /wp-content/theme directory of the website and upload the locally unzipped theme file here.

Enable and manage topics

After installing the theme, visit the background – Appearance – theme, you can see the theme just installed, you can view the “Details”, “Preview” or “Enabled” theme. If you want to change the theme, you can also enable new topics here.

After you enable the theme, you may need to further set the theme. Different topics require different settings, so this is not demonstrated here.

WordPress Install Plugin

Installing plug-ins is similar to installing themes, but there are also 3 commonly used methods:

Method One: Online Search Installation

Access background – plugins – install plugins, enter keyword search

Browse search results for installation

Note: It is generally recommended to install plug-ins that have been submitted to the WordPress plug-in library, and it has been recently updated (it is recommended not to install plug-ins that have not been updated for more than 2 years)

Method two: Upload and install plugins online

Access Background – Plugins – Install Plugins – Upload, select the plugin package in native .zip format

Method 3: Upload and Install Through FTP

If there is no way to install through the above method, you can connect to the host space via FTP, extract the created package, and upload it to the /wp-content/plugins directory:

Enable and manage plugins

After the plug-in is installed, access the background – plug-ins – installed plug-ins, you can enable the plug-in

You can also disable disabled plugins here

Note: Some plug-ins need to be set up after the relevant settings, each plug-in settings options are not the same, this is not demonstrated.

Well, the above is the basic operation of installing WordPress themes and plug-ins. Have you learned?

WordPress Beginner Part9 — Set up the navigation menu

WordPress 3.0 adds a custom navigation menu feature that allows you to set the site’s navigation menu freely. Most of the themes now support this feature. So, how do you set up the WordPress navigation menu? Today, we introduce Meng to introduce it.

How to determine if the theme supports custom menu features?

After the theme is enabled, go to Background – Appearance – Menu. If you see the following picture, the theme does not support custom menus. Instead, it supports:

Customize the navigation menu

Before customizing the menu, you need to create the necessary article categories and pages. Please refer to “Creating and Managing Article Categories” below to enter the topic.

Create menu

Open Background – Appearance – Menu, then click the “+” button on the page, fill in the name of a menu (can be any text, just to identify it), and then click “Create menu”. For example, I create a menu named “menu” as shown below:

Some novice friends mistakenly believe that the “menu” added here is a separate link. This is not the case. The “menu” is a set of links. You can add N links to it to form a navigation bar.

Add links and settings menu

1 Select the link (custom link, page link and category link) to add from the left, and add it to the menu. (Custom link: allows you to add any link, for example, you can add a home page, link to the home page URL)

2 You can edit the information for each menu item and sort it by drag and drop. Drag a menu item to the right slightly, this item becomes a submenu (lower one is secondary menu, lower two is third level, and so on. The premise is that your WordPress theme supports submenu display. ), so that your menu has a hierarchical relationship.

3 After you have finished the menu, click “Save Menu”.

4 Then select the display position for the menu you set (some WordPress themes support different positions for different menus, so you can set different menus, then select the display position).

Menu advanced settings

The WordPress menu hides a few features. If you want to control more of the menu’s properties, you may wish to click on the “Display Options” in the top right corner of the screen to make the hidden features appear:

You can choose more menu item types (such as tags and articles), and you can also display the menu’s advanced properties (link destinations, CSS classes, link relationships, descriptions)

  • Navigation tab – is the text of the link
  • Title attribute – is the value of the title attribute of the a tag, such as the figure above to fill in “WP University”
  • CSS class – add a class to a menu item, this menu item is different from the css, as I added the “home-page”
  • Linkage Network – Add rel attribute to the menu via the Linkage Network (XFN), for example, do not want the search engine to follow this menu, you can add rel=”nofllow” attribute to it
  • Link target – Controls how the menu opens, opens in a new window (target=”_blank”) or opens in the current window (default).

Well, the WordPress custom navigation menu is introduced here.

WordPress Beginner Part10 — Install themes and plugins

WordPress Beginner Part7 — publishing new articles and article management

Pre-installation preparation

1. Download the latest version of WordPress (shown here as the official Chinese version of WordPress 3.5). After decompression, upload all the files in the WordPress folder to the root directory where your host space domain name is bound.

Click on “Display Options” in the upper right corner of the page to check all the default function modules and drag to arrange them (understand “Display Options”). And divide it into 11 small points, which will be introduced one by one below.

First, the editorial area

1. Title – Type a title for your article. After that, you will see a fixed link address, which is editable.

2. Article Editor – Type the text of your article.

  • (1) Switch editor mode
    The editor has two editing modes: “Visual” and “Text.” Tap the appropriate tab to switch. Visualize mode shows the WYSIWYG editor. Click the toolbar’s last icon to expand the second row of control buttons; in “text” mode, you can enter the original HTML tags and article text.
  • (2) insert pictures and other multimedia files
    You can upload or insert multimedia files (images, audio, documents, etc.) by clicking on the “Add media” button. You can choose from the files that have been uploaded to the media library and insert the article directly, or upload a new file, and then insert it. To create an album, select the image to add and click the “Create New Album” button.
  • (3) Full-screen editing mode
    You can use the Full Screen Writing Interface with the Full Screen icon in the Visualization mode (second to last line in the first row). After entering this interface, move the mouse to the top and the control button will be displayed. Click “Exit full screen” to return to the standard editing interface.

Second, publish the status of the article

You can set the article’s properties in the Publish area. Click the “Edit” button to the right of “Status”, “Visibility”, and “Publish” to adjust more settings. Visibility settings include password protection and article sticking; by setting publishing options, you can implement scheduled publishing (how to publish articles regularly).

Third, select article classification

Very simple function, choose the classification for your article (how to add article classification)

Fourth, fill in the article summary

Some WordPress themes call the article summary on the Category Archive page. You can manually add an abstract to this article (typically 50-200 words)

Five, custom sections

Please move to “Introduction and Usage Examples of WordPress Custom Fields”

Six, send trackback (rarely used)

Trackback is a way to inform old blog systems that you have linked to them. Please enter the URL(s) to which you want to send a trackback. If you are linking to other WordPress sites, you do not need to fill in this column. These sites will be automatically notified by pingback.

Seven labels

WordPress can associate articles by category, but also by tags. Some WordPress themes will automatically call the tag that is filled in here as the keyword for this article. The length of the label is generally 2-6 characters, and it is generally sufficient to fill in 2-4 labels. (The “hot tag” on the sidebar of this site is a typical call)

Eight, featured image

WordPress 3.0+ introduced this “feature image” function (requires theme support). The featured image set here is generally used for thumbnail calling of articles. Now generally complete WordPress themes support the invocation of featured images as thumbnails. This is especially the case for foreigners.

Nine, alias

The aliases and adventurousness here are the same as those used in the “Creating and Managing Article Categories”: they appear in the article’s URL, making the links more beautiful and concise. Alias is generally recommended to fill in English or Pinyin, not too long. (Note: This alias is called as part of the url only if the permalink is set to a style with a /%postname% field. How to set a permalink)

X. Authors

You can refer to the author of the article here. The default is the user you are currently logged in to

XI. Discussion

You can set the switch for comments and citations. If the article has comments, you can browse and review comments here. If you do not allow others to comment on this article, do not check it.

Note: You can set – discuss and set global discussion settings in the background (such as whether to turn on commenting, comment filtering, comment review, etc.)

Management Articles

Open background – articles – all articles, you can see all articles:

1. You can open the “Display Options” in the upper right corner to set the items and quantity to be displayed

2. Allows you to perform article selection and batch operations

3. Move the mouse over the title of the article and the menus “Edit, Quick Edit, Move to Recycle Bin, View” will be displayed. If you only need to modify the attributes of the article (such as the top article), use “Direct Edit”. You can use “edit” if you want to modify the content of the article.

Conclusion

The above is the function module that comes with WordPress. If you have installed some other plug-ins, or some powerful WordPress themes, you may want to add some extended function modules here. Then you need to understand and use it yourself. Now.

WordPress Beginner Part8 — New page and management page

WordPress pages and articles are similar, but also a content publishing function, but they are different, the following advocate Meng Meng briefly introduce. Open background – page – New page, you can see the following interface:

The similarities and differences between pages and articles

Pages and articles are similar — they all have titles, text, and related information. However, pages that are similar to permanent ones are often not faded out of sight as time goes by, as in general blog posts. Pages cannot be categorized or labeled, but they can have hierarchical relationships. You can attach pages under another page.

The method of creating a new page and writing an article is very similar, and the following interface can also be customized by the same method (dragging sorting, “display options” tab, and expanding and retracting modules). This page also supports a full-screen writing interface. The full-screen writing interface supports the “visual” and “text” modes. The page editor and article editor are also similar, except that some of the options in the “Page Attributes” module are slightly different:

Parents – You can organize your pages in a hierarchical manner. For example, you can create an “About” page with subordinates of “Life” and “My Pet.” There is no limit to the depth of the hierarchy.

Templates – Some themes have custom templates that you can use on pages where you want to add new features or custom layouts. If so, you can see it in the drop-down menu.

Sorting – Pages are sorted alphabetically by default. You can also customize the order of the pages by assigning a number to the page (1 for the first, 2 for the second…) (this is rarely used since WordPress 3.0 introduces custom menu functionality).

Pages are often used to create separate content, such as: About Us, Links, Advertising Collaboration, Contributions Pages…

Create a new page

Other modules and functions of the page publishing interface are basically the same as the article publishing page. Please read “Publish new articles and management articles.”

Management page

Open background – page – all pages, you can view all the pages that have been created:

1. You can click the “Display Options” in the upper right corner to set the items to be displayed and the number of pages per page

WordPress Beginner Part5 — Create and manage article categories

Articles of different themes are divided into different categories, helping visitors find the content they want and improving the user experience. Therefore, it is necessary to create article classification for your website. So how does WordPress create and manage article classifications? Today, Meng Meng will briefly introduce you.

Before creating a category, it is best to have a clearer understanding of the content orientation of your site and then list the preferred category name (typically 2-6 characters is appropriate).

Enter the background – articles – category directory, you can see the classification creation and classification management interface:

Add new category

Adding catalogs by default has 4 options:

  • Name – The name of the category, which is generally 2-6 characters, as in the “WordPress Theme” above
  • Aliases – Mainly used in URLs in catalogs, such as “themes” in “https://www.wpdaxue.com/category/themes” are aliases for “WordPress Themes” (WordPress by default automatically adds /category to URLs Categories)
  • Parent – The level of classification, the default is first-level classification, you can also add sub-categories; if the content of the first-level classification can also be classified into more detailed sections, consider adding sub-categories
  • Description – describes what this category is mainly about, and some WordPress themes will call this description as a description or classification description

Set default classification

The main use of the default classification is that if you do not manually specify the classification of an article when you write it, it will be automatically assigned to the default classification.

Go to Background – Settings – Write, you can set “Default Article Category”

Manage existing categories

By placing the mouse over the category name, you can manage the menu: Edit | Quick Edit | Delete | View (as shown in the “WordPress Development” above), you can click on the menu to see.

It should be noted that if a category is “default category” and cannot be deleted, you can first set other categories as the default category and then delete the category.

See Category ID

Sometimes, for example, some theme setting options, you need to fill in the classification ID in order to call the classification content, then you need to see the classification ID

Place the mouse over the category name and right-copy the link address to get the following link:

Http://xxxxxx/edit-tags.php?action=edit&taxonomy=category&tag_ID=4&post_type=post

Where ID=4 is the ID of this category

Well, the basic introduction to classification is here, if there is any problem you can leave a message.
